PHPUK 2025
21st February 2025PHPUK has been running for around 20 years now, I'm a bit ashamed to say that this was actually my first time at the event which considering its one of the longest running PHPUK events in the UK is rather bad of me.
I was there as part of the Jump24 team we were sponsoring the event so I wasn't really there for the talks the main aim of attending was to chat to the attendees and let them know more about my Jump24 and what we can do to help them.
We had some really really good conversations with people not just about the services we offer but about PHP in general, how the space currently looks and the things going on right now. It was great to chat about Laravel particularly talking about some of the upcoming product releases that they have.
Our duck swag seemed to go down well, we did over order so myself and Adam had to try and cram 250 ducks into our two bags, we just hopped we don't get stopped and asked to open our bags on our journey back to Birmingham as that would be a fun explanation wouldn't it!.
Overall we really enjoyed the event, from what I heard from some people who had attended a number of these events, this year was a lower attendance which was a shame. The venue itself was great and the setup meant that the it could be a multitrack event so there were two rooms with talks going on throughout the day which meant as an attendee you could move between rooms to see different talks so there was plenty going on for them.
The food at the event was good, the lunch menu had plenty of options the Fish and Chips were my favourite and they did run out quickly, throughout the day there was coffee and tea available as well as a rather nice Pink Lemonade that I drank far too much of!
Overall I really enjoyed the day, we got to speak to lots of new faces and it felt like it was a positive day for Jump24 with some really strong conversations that could lead to some new work.
I took a few pics of things and just thought I would finish off the post with them.
